This morning, Kristen was fixing herself a cup of coffee and I was just behind her when a very large bull moose wandered by and decided to check us out through the kitchen window. Our phones were out in the living room where we'd been sitting and, by the time that I found he camera, he'd strolled to the back corner of the lawn and faded into the trees.
This was my first ever encounter with a moose. Kristen had had one encounter with a cow in Montana when she was a kid. This was pretty special for both of us.
Our camera has a new home on the kitchen window sill.

PS: Talked with a neighbor who has lived here since 1986. She's seen a lot of bears but has never seen a moose here.
PPS: Got an email today from the woman that we bought the house from (Maya and Nikos' principal and Briar's boss). The neighbor had told her about our moose sighting. Sounds like she's never seen a moose either. Keeping the camera at the ready but the chances may be slim.
